Today’s guest is the LEGEND, Ruben Rodriguez! We sit down to record on the mats at Renzo Gracie Portland which is a special place. It is where our paths crossed and where Ruben currently coaches. Ruben started training in September of 2017, currently a brown belt, as well as received a black belt in the Marine Corps martial arts program after serving over five years in the Third Battalion 5th Marine Regiment.
If you are interested in discovering more of yourself, jiu-jitsu, being the best version of you, and the art in training/coaching then this episode is for you. I am so grateful I got to sit down and record this episode with Ruben. His energy, intentionality, and ability to connect with others is world-class.

Jonah Rosner, is a high-performance coach with an incredible journey in sports science. He made history as one of the youngest sports scientists in NFL history when he worked with the Houston Texans at just 25 years old. Jonah's expertise extends to the Texas Men's Basketball and Austin FC in MLS, but what excited me the most about this conversation is his innovative work in the running space.
Jonah is on a mission to bring cutting-edge sports science and technology to the running world, where such resources are less accessible compared to the major pro sports. In this episode, we explore his journey, his transition from the pinnacle of professional sports to betting on himself, and the groundbreaking work he's doing in the realm of high-performance running.
If you're passionate about sports science, marathon preparation, technology, and unlocking your peak potential, this conversation with Jonah is a must-listen.

Today’s guest is with the incredible human being Korey Thieleke. He recently returned to the St. Mary’s Home for Boys as a Case Counselor in Portland, Oregon but our paths cross because of the University of Portland. As a teacher/academic & student-athlete development advisor most recently and during his college career he was a student-athlete with Portland Pilots Basketball.
Korey has had an amazing journey where he competed in college basketball, then competed at NCAA Nationals for 400m his senior year (running a 46.61 PB), but most importantly now creating the life he wants to live. In this episode Korey dives into all things energy, writing in detail, applying his work to his own life, and how his perspective has evolved since recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
I loved this episode and what Korey brought to this conversation. Before we get into this episode I wanted to make the ask. Three simple things. Stetson Stallworth jumps on the podcast for episode 38.
“I may not be able to throw a spiral like Brady or dunk like LeBron, but, similar to them, my work ethic, will-to-win, and intangible qualities are unmatched!”
This is how this dude introduces himself on LinkedIn! LOVE THIS GUYS ENERGY. He is the Director of Guest Relations for a Better Life Podcast with Brandon Turner, real estate investor & recently started/scaled/sold his residential cleaning business to one of his twitter followers. We dive into all of those topics and specifically into designing our life to be aligned with where we want to be in 10 years.
My favorite part of this episode was his story about the Wheaties box, how he connected with Brandon Turner, & most of all application of the Better Life podcast lessons to his life.

Today’s guest is Manny Lamson! Manny was a student-athlete on the football team during my time at Washington State University (Go Cougs!).
In this conversation, we dive into his non-standard path of over 15 years of service in the Air Force, while enlisted joining the WSU football team, doing Air Force ROTC, and what he has learned from doing extremely hard things. He has done an Ironman, 4x4x48, marathons, and more. Love this guy’s energy and what he brings to not only this conversation but other people’s lives through coaching with 1st Phorm.
If you love this podcast please share it with someone who would benefit from this conversation. As well as reach out to let me know what you loved about this podcast. If you want to learn more about this podcast and more of what I am diving into check out bryantferate.beehiiv.com/subscribe
